Demetrius Savelio, who was born on 28 June 1981, better known by his alias Savage, is a New Zealand rapper and a member of hip hop music group Deceptikonz. Born in South Auckland, New Zealand, on 28 June 1981 to Samoan parents, Demetrius Savelio enjoyed hip-hop music from a very young age. It was in these days that the Savelio got his stage name. The talanted rapper recorded over 40 songs during a 12 month recording regime before finally selecting the final line up for his album Moonshine. Production duties on the project were handled by Mareko, Nate D of RES, Adeaze Alavante AKA BeatKamp and Atlanta resident Sol Messiah, who had flown to New Zealand and spent few weeks manning the drum machine and keyboards at Dawn Raid Studios. Savage worked with the famous R&B singer Akon on a remix of Akon's US top 10 hit "Locked Up". The international remix with Savage on the A-side also features Styles P from the Ruff Ryders label, he was also asked to guest with David Banner on the international remix of "Ain't Got Nothing" which helped to solidfy his name internationally. Savage's hit song by the name "Swing" can be heard in the 2007 comedy film Knocked Up during the club scene. Furthermore, he's featured on the song "Capital SA" by Alphrisk, which is in Superbad, both films had Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen as producers.
