Ray J, whos real name is William Ray Norwood was born on January 17, 1981, is an American actor, songwriter, record producer, singer and occasional rapper. His father is gospel singer Willie Norwood and his younger brother is the R&B singer Brandy. He signed with Elektra in 1995, recording Everything You Want, the following year with a set of superstar songwriters and producers behind him. In 1997, the rapper performed in a television special with his sister, but despite the mainstream attention, he was dropped by Elektra soon after. Norwood easygoing image and boyish looks appealed to the producers of Brandy's television show, Moesha, scoring the rapper a role on the popular UPN series starting in 1999, he also started producing, putting together the music for several commercials and a several of the demos for his second record. In 1997 William also released his first album named "Everything You Want", which spawned two singles, both available as Ray J ringtones. "Let It Go" was the main single of the smash soundtrack for Set It Off (Brandy also appeared on the soundtrack and her song called "Missing You" with Tamia, Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight peaked also at number 25). It reached number 25 in the US and number 11 in New Zealand, but the second single had no big succes. His top song managed only to peak at number 54 on the US R&B chart. In 2007 the talanted singer was seen in videos such as Fabolous' "Make Me Better", Tyrese' "One", US5's "In the Club" and Yung Berg's "Sexy Lady", he also was featured on the single "Beds" by B2K-rapper Lil' Fizz as well as Tha Realest's second single "Let's Get It in," taken from his first album named "Witness tha Realest".
