Founded in 1998, Louisville, Kentucky, My Morning Jacket is an American rock group known for their reverb-heavy sound, country rock, funk, their eclectic mix of indie rock, psychedelic, and jam band styles, and enthusiastic and energetic live shows. The name of the band comes from a discarded coat lead singer Jim James found while sifting through the remains of his favorite bar after it burned down, which was embroidered with the letters "MMJ". Band`s members are talanted singer and singwriter on guitars James', bassist "Two Tone Tommy" Blankenship, drummer Patrick Hallahan, guitarist/pedal steel guitarist/saxophonist/vocalist Carl Broemel and keyboardist Bo Koster. The band was invited to perform at the 2007 Bonnaroo Music Festival but they didn`t perform there in order to rest and record their new album titled Evil Urges, which was released on June 10, 2008 followed by a June 20 show at Radio City Music Hall, they performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April. Playing a near 4 hour set starting at midnight on Friday, with guest appearances by Kirk Hammett of Metallica and comedian Zach Galifianakis the band made an amazing perfromance - thirty-five songs were performed during the marathon set, such as several covers (i.e. Erykah Badu's Tyrone, Kool and the Gang's Get Down on It, Sly and the Family Stone's Hot Fun in the Summertime, James Brown's Cold Sweat, Bobby Womack's Across 110th Street, and Motley Crue's Home Sweet Home).
